BEGINNER'S COURSES
The Club has an established programme for running beginner’s courses each year; these are run in accordance with the requirements and guidelines defined by The Grand National Archery Society.
People of almost any age and physical ability can enjoy archery, although there are strict conditions regarding the participation (at the Club) of young persons.
Each course consists of a total of 12 hours of instruction divided over a number of weekly sessions, with all necessary equipment for the courses provided by the Club. There will be a fee payable in advance for these courses. For information or details please (email).
For 2012 the planned courses are:-
- The Spring course will be four sessions (3 hours per week) run on Saturday mornings starting on 28th April at 10.00am.
- The Summer course will be a five sessions (2.1/2 hours per week) run on Wednesday evenings starting on 20th June at 6.15pm.
As this is Olympics year, with archery as one of the events we may be running an extra Beginner' Course later in the summer; if there is enough interest!
The fee for either course is £45 per person (adult or junior), payable in advance with the submission of the course application form.
Please book your place for either of these courses in advance of the start date shown above,(Contact Us) for an application form, which needs to be to be returned to us to confirm your intentions, joining instructions will also be forwarded to you.
Young persons may take part in beginner’s courses and subsequently join the Club, but they must be at least 140cm (4’-6”) tall and around 11 years minimum age. Each young person must be accompanied by their parent/guardian at all times. To see the Club policy click (juniors’ policy)
The Club is very well equipped to provide a comprehensive training experience. Experience archers supervise each course. By the end of a course the new archer should be able to shoot confidently and with reasonable skill and accuracy and would then be invited to join the Club.
For new Club members, joining from a beginner’s course, the Club does have a limited number of 'intermedite' archery shooting equipment kits which are available for short term hire. Coaching will be available to help new archers to continue developing their skills. Eventually new members will need to purchase their own equipment and the Club can advise and give guidance about purchasing their own equipment.
